Swett grew up in New Hampshire, graduated from Yale University and began his career as an architect in San Francisco. In 1991 he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from New Hampshire’s 2nd district, and he served in that capacity until 1995. In 1998, President Bill Clinton appointed Swett as the United States Ambassador to Denmark, a position he held for three years. In 2000 he was inducted to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architecture. He returned to the field of architecture as Managing Principal of Leo A. Daly Architects and Engineers of Washington, D.C. office, before leaving to become the co-founder and CEO of Climate PROSPERITY Enterprise Solutions LLC, of Concord, New Hampshire. CPES is an international clean energy enterprise community software development firm.

“We are extremely honored to have someone with Richard Swett’s experience and ability assume the position of Chairman of the Board of Sestar,” said Starks in making the announcement. “As co-author of the national energy policy for Senator Joseph Lieberman’s 2004 presidential campaign and his current role with Climate PROSPERITY Enterprise Solutions, Dick is uniquely suited to help guide Sestar in the development of sustainable energy sources and products.

“We’re also very grateful to Marshall Criser for his service.” Starks continued, “and are delighted he has agreed to continue to assist us in an advisory capacity.”

“I’ve always believed that small, entrepreneurial companies like Sestar represent America’s future in green technologies and sustainable energy,” said Swett in accepting the Chairmanship. “I’m excited about the opportunity to work with the Sestar team and the scientific community at the University of Florida to develop products that are truly impactful.”

Swett and his wife Katrina have seven children and reside in Bow, New Hampshire.
